The Verkhovna Rada adopted the draft as a basis on November 6, 2009, instructing the Committee on Construction, Urban Development, Housing and Communal Services and Regional Policy to finalize the draft, taking into account the proposals and remarks of the subjects of legislative initiative.
Adjusting the draft Housing Code, the Committee received 549 remarks and proposals, out of which 310 were fully taken into account, 56 - partially, 121 in editing, 62 - rejected. Then the draft was submitted for the second reading.
Considering numerous public requests, the Committee held an extended session on May 18. Representatives of non-governmental organizations, foreign experts and media attended the meeting. They discussed the possibility of clause-by-clause scrutiny of the Housing Code at the plenary meeting of the Verkhovna Rada. After the extended session, the Committee received 239 proposals and remarks from the subjects of legislative initiative.
As of 29 June, 600 amendments have been introduced to the Housing Code.
